Suzanne Lyons Obituary

Suzanne Senn Lyons
April 20, 1928 - May 20, 2021
SAN DIEGO
Suzanne Cloud Lyons passed away peacefully at the age of 93 at her home on May 20, 2021. Born in Chula Vista to immigrant parents from Switzerland and England, she spent her childhood in Chula Vista, graduating from Sweetwater High School. She went on to work as a dental assistant in Bankers Hill and married Roy Fletcher Cloud, Jr. ("Bud") in 1950. They had five children, Andrea, Michele, Steven (who passed away in 1961), and twins Jeffrey and Jennifer. Bud passed away in 1975, and Suzanne stayed in her Mission Hills home raising her children. She owned an antique shop in The Olde Cracker Factory downtown. Suzanne remained active, volunteering for Children's Hospital La Playa Unit, and was also a dedicated volunteer for many years at the Cancer Discovery Thrift Shop, where she personally outfitted numerous patients going through chemotherapy with special wigs customized for each individual. In 2005, Suzanne married the Rev. E. Vaughn Lyons, and the two of them lived life to the hilt! Always up for adventure, they traveled the world together and entertained friends and family in their home. When Vaughn passed away in 2010, she relocated to the bay on Pt. Loma, with family close by. Suzanne had a very sharp mind throughout her life and was a self-described political junkie. She also had a soft spot for animals and fought for justice for others, particularly through the Interfaith Shelter. In addition, Suzanne had a tremendous sense of style, a gift for interior design, made beautiful silver-work jewelry, and could fix anything. She remained close with her friends from the Presidio neighborhood in Mission Hills and met monthly for dinner, games, and conviviality. She will be remembered as beautiful, intelligent woman who brought a lot of joy to her family and all who knew her. Suzanne is survived by her daughter Andrea Rushing (Hub), daughter Michele Cloud (Carlos), son Jeffrey Cloud (Pam), daughter Jennifer MacLaggan (Peter). Grandchildren, Lindsey, Katie, Megan, Caden and Ciena and three great-grandchildren.

I loved Suzanne. She was so smart, beautiful and fun. I loved her honesty (sometimes brutal) and how she could light up any room. I enjoyed our chats very much and wish I had known her longer. She reminded me of my own parents who were also part of the greatest generation. She is missed by all who knew her. To know her was to love her. I think about you a lot Suzanne and hope you are having a nice glass of wine and watching Ari. I miss you

Your mother meant the world to me. She was such a good friend and neighbor. When she moved from North Rim I really missed her but was happy she found Vaughn. Treasure your memories. She was a wonderful lady. All my sympathy, Jacki
