Loved Terry and he was such a patron of the sport of tennis. After Paul made the Q Finals at Wimbledon we were welcomed home to a dinner and party at the Goodings beautiful view estate. What a special night it was

I never knew a more honorable man than Terry Gooding. We first became acquainted when he was in the Scientific Research Department at General Dynamics Astronautics and I was in the Tracking Systems Department. As it turns out I was working on my MS degree and Dr. Gooding arranged to have my thesis typed and edited by his department. He was developing ultra-capacitors as his specialty and I had an assignment to develop an optical beacon for the Atlas Missile. He wanted me to use his capacitors but I had to decline because they were still in the experimental stage. Time passed and the Scientific Lab department was closed and Terry started Maxwell labs. Although I had not selected his capacitors for my project, he somehow remembered me and brought me into Maxwell with the assignment to help take the company into commercial business areas beyond the government contracts they had at the time. I so highly respected him in that in spite of the fact that I had to reject his capacitors for my project, he didn't hold it against me. He was a shining light at Maxwell, always bringing cheer and happiness as he moved about the facility, always with a smile on his face and a nice greeting every time he passed someone. When I asked him why he picked the name "Maxwell" for the company he said "Well, we have to give the old boy some credit, don't we?" He referred to British Scientist James Clerk Maxwell. I had a brief conversation with Terry around 4-6 years ago. He struggled to talk but was severely handicapped by the ailment he died from.
