Thomas W. Munday, 91, a resident of Rancho Bernardo for 51 years, passed peacefully on March 4, 2021.Born August 22, 1929, in Englewood, NJ. Married to Sarah "Sally" M. Munday for 60 wonderful years until her passing in 2010.Thomas served in the U.S. Navy 1950-1954.After his military service, Tom worked at General Dynamics Electronics Div in Rochester, NY, and San Diego, CA as a Senior Engineering Specialist for 24+ years before retiring in 1988. Tom enjoyed umpiring in the local little league starting in 1971, serving 17 seasons in Rancho Bernardo LL before eventually moving up to the San Diego County Umpire Association, working both JV and Varsity games until 1992.From 1992-1998, Tom was Assistant Manager and Chartered Member for RSVP with the San Diego Police Dept. serving in Rancho Bernardo. Tom was a longtime San Diego Padre Fan and San Diego Charger Fan. He also kept busy researching his Family's Genealogy.Tom was father to Sarah Ellen Allee of New Ulm, MN, and Kathleen E. Sanks of N. Las Vegas, NV, father-in-law to Rick Sanks, grandfather to Andrew Hoeschen, Benjamin Hoeschen, and Sarah Grace Allee, great-grandfather to Jonathan, Caleb, and Emma. Tom will be laid to rest at Ft. Rosecrans alongside his beloved Sally at a future date.Celebration of Life was held March 24, 2021, at Grace Lutheran Church in Escondido, CA, where he was a long-time member.
