Tonnie, Kris and Becky were neighbors to us when we lived on Fort Stockton street in San Diego. I was friends for years with her son Kris until we moved to different parts of San Diego. However, my mother Gayle Mayo/Moyers remained friends for many of the following 30 years, so much so my mom even signed me up for Showbiz when they did an OZ remake. Tonnie was very sweet to put me front and center with my brother Paul. She realized I was a tone deaf teen that had no sense of rhythm, but just told me to enjoy the experience and do my best. She just smiled, hugged, and was always supportive. I always remember feeling safe and in a warm place as a kid when we would play over at Tonnie's home with Kris and Becky. As a family we adopted Tonnie's Xmas tradition of making and sharing Norwegian Pepperkaker cookies every Christmas. Even when I graduated from college and started the first part of my career I tended to work for small to mid-sized tech start-ups and every Xmas I would make a dozen for every person in the company. My biggest year was 212 dozen pepperkaker cookies. I think they reminded me of how warm and supportive it always felt around Tonnie along with early Xmas times in our own family. I have fond memories of driving around mission hills with her, Kris and sometimes Becky in their brown Mercedes Benz sedan with red leather interior with the shift on the steering column and Tonnie just smiling and asking all of us questions about our days. Thanks for the memories of a warm, safe, and supportive place to always be.

Tonnie always easily shared her many talents. She was a loving friend, full of joy and laughter. We fondly remember the many Historical Society events and historical plays; our constant quest for best burger dinners; Valentine's Day at Nunu's; sharing emails with John; and her help with Barbara's Swedish genealogy. She will be forever missed. Our love and prayers go out to Jim, Becky and Kris and to all their families.
