WARREN HASSLER Obituary

HASSLER JR., WARREN W. Warren W. Hassler, Jr., a distinguished and admired professor of Civil War History died on July 12, 2012, in La Jolla, CA after a brief illness. Prof. Hassler, son of Warren and Naomi Jacobs Hassler, was born and raised in Baltimore, MD. He served in the 7th US Army Air Corps at the end of World War II. After his discharge, he completed a Master of Arts Degree at the U. of Pennsylvania, and in 1953 was awarded a PhD in American Military History from The Johns Hopkins Univ., specializing in the American Civil War. Warren will be remembered for his passion around the game of golf and for sharing his love of US National Parks with family and friends. Warren will be dearly missed. He is survived by his beloved wife, Peggy McCreight Hassler, his children Christopher Hassler and wife Susan McNeice, of Fairfax Station, VA, and Carol and David Kruse of Mamaroneck, NY and his loving grandchildren Douglas and Katherine Kruse.
