Ardith Knadler Obituary

Ardith L. Knadler

June 8, 2024

San Luis Obispo, California - Ardith L. Knadler, a devoted educator and cherished member of the community, peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the age of 98. Born in 1926 to a long line of teachers, Ardith graduated from Pomona College with a BA in Education, embarking on a lifelong journey dedicated to nurturing young minds.

Ardith's passion for teaching spanned generations, extending beyond traditional classrooms; from a one-room school house to Home Hospital; and included children of all ages until she retired at the age of 90. Her compassion and dedication were further exemplified in her role assisting homebound students due to illness or other circumstances, ensuring they continued to receive an education.

Outside of her professional life, Ardith found joy in her hobbies of gardening, quilting, knitting, and baking, skills she shared generously with family and friends. Ardith's husband of 75 years, James (Jim) Knadler, shared her passion for gardening and orchids, activities they enjoyed together and shared with their community through their creation and involvement of the Cabrillo Orchid Society.

Ardith was preceded in death by her husband, Jim. She is survived by her three children, Howard Knadler (Jennifer), Janice Leitner (Wayne), and Bruce Knadler (Lynn), and her seven grandchildren; Brandon, Chris, Alexis, Nicole, Brett, Ryan and Sara; who brought her immense pride and joy.

A memorial service to honor Ardith's life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to One Cool Earth ( https://www.onecoolearth.org/ ) which supports education, a cause Ardith held close to her heart throughout her life.

Ardith's legacy of kindness, dedication, and love for learning will forever inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be remembered fondly for her unwavering spirit and the profound impact she had on the lives of her students and everyone she met.

So sorry to hear about your loss. Mrs. Knadler was a WONDERFUL teacher! I had her for my sixth and seventh grades at Oak Dale and then for eighth grade at Ascension. She was a special teacher. She made learning fun.

I was surprised and saddened to read of Mrs, Knadler´s passing. I first met her when my brother Ivan Scott and I had her as our teacher in a one room school house west of Templeton called Oak Dale School. When that school burned down the summer of 1950 we then were assigned to Ascension School at the summit of York Mountain. Mrs. Knadler picked us up on her way to school and took us home after school. Those were certainly fun filled days and set a sound foundation for our education. Times that students who were fortunate enough to experience don´t forget. It was very refreshing to hear of Mrs Knadler´s long and happy life. Especially since I am a senior citizen myself now. My sincere condolences to her family and thank you for the trip down memory lane. Fondly, June Scott Everett Templeton,Ca.
