Beth Peterson Obituary

Beth Peterson (1928 - Dec. 25, 2014) Beth Peterson passed away with family at her side on Christmas morning. Born in Kelso, Washington, Beth moved to San Luis Obispo in 1955. A graduate of Pacific Lutheran University she received her Master's Degree in Education from Cal Poly. Beth started her teaching career in Longview, Washington, and taught second grade for San Luis Coastal for thirty years. She was very active as a volunteer for 32 years at French Hospital, Performing Arts Center, People's Kitchen, local elementary schools, and countless church activities at Mount Carmel Lutheran Church since 1956. Beth did not know the word 'no' or 'stop' especially when it came to volunteering or her daily three mile walk as she was very active until she passed. Beth is survived by her husband of 64 years, Larry; and sons, Jeffrey and Joel. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Janel. Beth enjoyed a special relationship with her daughter-in-laws, Teresa and Debbie; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Please enjoy a walk today along the ocean thinking of Beth. A Memorial Service will be conducted by Chuck Paulson at Mount Carmel on January 2, at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated at Mount Carmel Lutheran Church, 1701 Fredericks Street, San Luis, 93405. Sign her guestbook at sanluisobispo.com/obituaries

Dearest Larry and the Entire Pederson family, We loved Beth so much. She was the most wonderful lady. She always was there for anyone that needed help. She was so gracious and happy to see everyone at any time of the day. San Luis will not know a more comitted volenteer. She served others her entire life. Larry and Beth have been here for us all at the hopital for our entire lives. I loved talking to her at the hopstial and Church and she was so proud of her kids and their spouses. She always told me what the grand kids were all doing and so proud of them! She was always interested in what we were doing and how we were. I had a privlege of being on the FMC hopsital board, and an honor that I will cherish with her. She was also a neighorhood mom to take care of me and the other Hays Street kids, when we were kids with Jeff and Joel and many good times where had. She is an inperation to so many in terms of being a good citizen in our community. Words cannot experss our sorrow for her loss. We wish the family peace and blessings and she will never be forgotten. We will miss her but know that she will be with be with God now. God Bless our sweet Beth Peterson!

It was such a shock to hear of Beth's passing. I met Beth this past year working as a volunteer for French Hospital. I couldn't believe how much energy she had and how involved she was in all the hospital fund raisers, and still in education as well. She was truly an inspiration. Larry, my condolences go out to you and your family. Beth touched my life and I'm glad to have known her and worked with her. My thoughts and prayers are with you! -Andrea Muratet

Peterson family;
Great sympathies to you all. To you, Mr. Peterson (Larry) a special condolence. I remember what a great teacher you were for our Hawthorne 5th grade class. You left a great impression as a fun and humble man who loved his wife as you spoke of her and your kids often. She must have been special. Your sense of humor inspired me and I tried to keep that in mind as I went through my teaching career. I'm sure that your faith and strength of your family will see you all through this together. Prayers are with you and yours.
