Carol Gomes

1945 - 2025

Carol passed away at home on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. Carol had been a lifelong resident of San Luis Obispo with the exception of two brief periods. She was born in Akron, Ohio, and her family moved to San Luis Obispo when she was three years old. Carol graduated from San Luis Obispo High School in 1963, then attended Fresno State College for two years before returning to her roots in San Luis Obispo.

She enjoyed the simple things in life while working various jobs until retirement. She loved rescuing and caring for many dogs and cats over the years. And she also loved shopping around town for good deals and gifts, many times over!

She will be especially missed by her sister, Linda. Her family greatly appreciates her good friend James helping and looking in on her over many years.

Carol is survived by her sister, Linda Melcher Buckmann; her nephew, Rick J. Buckmann; and her niece, Shelbi K. Wiegner.
