Conny Langer Obituary

Conny Langer
May 7, 1943 - April 16, 2022
San Luis Obispo, California - Constance Lee Langer (Conny) passed away on April 16 in her sleep at her home in San Luis Obispo. She was a selfless woman who will be missed by many. Conny worked for over 40 years as a social worker and over 30 of those in SLO County, helping numerous children and family.
Born in Massachusetts, she moved to Glendale, CA as child. After graduating from Hoover High School, she put herself through school at UCLA. She was an accomplished musician, playing the bass in many orchestras and groups. After marrying her husband, David Langer, and having kids, the family decided to move to San Luis Obispo where they lived for nearly 40 years.
Conny was extremely hard-working, but she filled her spare time reading and stitching as much as possible. She was great at cross-stitch, needlepoint, embroidery, and any other type of creative activity she tried. She was part of local and national groups and these activities brought her much joy.
She is survived by her daughter Tara, son Brad, and 4 grandchildren Dixon, Grayson, Lydia, and Christopher.
A memorial service will be held on May 7 at 10:00am at Wheeler-Smith Mortuary located at 2890 S. Higuera St. in San Luis Obispo. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the SLO Food Bank or CAPSLO.

Every year as I place my Christmas ornaments on my tree, I think of you, because you made so many of them with your needlework and sewing skills. The ornaments are still so beautiful. I think of all the good family times at holidays and other times in your beautiful San Luis Obispo home with you and my brother and your family and mine. I'm so glad my brother found and married you. Rest in peace, my dear sister-in-love. Your kids and grandkids miss you, too.

My dearest Sister-in-love. How much you and my brother are missed. Only a year but still so difficult. Your kids and grandkids are doing well. You would be proud still, as you always were. Love, Mary

Conny was a very caring person. I had the pleasure of supervising her for ten years. It was hard for her to close her cases because she wanted to make sure there was nothing more she could do to help.

Conny was a lovely and generous host. Year after year, she opened her home to us for holiday parties. And what fun we had!

Conny was beyond talented and creative with a needle or two! She was always trying something new and challenging. She is pretty much single handedly responsible for every decoration on my Christmas tree and I treasure each special Conny made ornament.

Conny was a person of unassailable integrity, courage,, and high standards. I will not repeat the story, but I will never ever forget that situation where Conny was the only one who stood up and spoke up.

Conny was special and a treasure and I will miss her.

She was very much loved by the community of her friends and needle workers, generous with her time, and she will be very much missed by every one of us. We join you in grieving for her and feel your loss, it is also ours.
