My condolences to David's family and friends. I worked for Dave at this software company for a about 2 years. He was a great boss and person. It was an honor and a privilege to get to know and work with him.

Dave was my colleague and friend. I met him in 1993 when he was on the search committee that selected me for my position at Cal Poly. He supported my being promoted and tenured. Dave taught environmental planning; I taught urban design. We were an excellent team because he had a well honed design sensibility and I shared his commitment to environmental sustainability. As the only tenured members of the faculty for a short time, we had to come to agreement on departmental matters. If we had differing views and had to make a decision, a dinner out with Cher and a well chosen bottle of wine were all it took for us to find common ground. Dave was a good man, a good friend, and a good colleague. I know, too, that he was an excellent teacher and scholar.

I only knew David from meetings we attended together. I respected him highly and will miss his presence.

I started working for Dave after I was laid off my job; just after my father passed away. I wanted to work part-time so I could be with my mother as much as I could which turned out to be her last year. The next 11 years went so fast. I have so much love and respect for Dave and his kindness, his generosity and love of whimsy. My sympathies to his family and friends.
