Dusty Davis Obituary

Dusty Davis 1976 - 2014 Dusty Warren Davis, 38, died in a motorcycle accident on Sunday, August 10, 2014. He was one of the most selfless men ever born and loved by so many people in the community. Dusty was a gifted athlete, talented web designer and painter, backyard farmer, world traveler, loving husband, dedicated son, loyal brother, professional colleague, and dear friend to so many. Always willing to lend a helping hand, his impish sense of humor will be missed, as will his stride at the track. He is survived by his wife, Elena Scanu; mother, Sue Davis; brothers Michael and Harley Davis; sisters Tara Shattuck and Renee Javier; brothers-in-law Dave Shattuck and Derek Javier; and several nieces and nephews. A community memorial service will be held at Cuesta Park at 2 pm on Sunday, August 24, 2014. People are encouraged to bring a potluck dish to share. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dusty's name to the SLO County Bicycle Coalition (http://slobikelane.org) or The Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County (http://slobikelane.org). Dusty´s company Fertile Minds worked with the winery I worked for. Though I only interacted with Dusty a few times, I´ll remember him for his graciousness, kind eyes, professionalism and his radio voice. He was a gem and I was saddened to learn of his passing 11 years ago. For some reason I started thinking of him today and so I wanted to share these sentiments with those who also thought highly of him. May he rest in peace with our Lord.

i worked with Dusty at the vacaville reporter mid to late 90s... we were the youngest of the graphics dept. and bonded over the many late nite work hours...he was such an old soul for a young man...full of ambition and adventure. We kept in touch a little but i always thought we´d meet up again sometime laugh about the old days of working til midnight or so... i´m still in shock. What a loss for the world...but what a stellar example of a human living life to the fullest. My heart goes out to the Davis family.

Dusty was a generous person, always willing to take the time to share his knowledge. He often spoke to my classes at Cal Poly and students LOVED his demeanor and presentation style. I am so very sad to hear of his passing.
