Eugene Kenyon Obituary

Eugene Glenn Kenyon
April 10, 1928 - December 17, 2022
Nipomo, California - Gene passed away at the age of 94 on December 17, 2022 at his daughters home in Nipomo. Gene went by 'Perk" to those who knew him best, it was a nickname he got in high school. He was born in Selma California on April 10, 1928 to Glenn and Juanita Kenyon, he had two brothers Kenneth and Bob Kenyon. He met Gerry his wife for 69 years when they were in high school. Gerry passed away in 2018. He always carried her senior class picture in his wallet till the day he passed away. They were married in June 1949. Around 1954 he started working for Pacific Bell where he had a very successful career with that company. Then in 1964 he transferred to the Central Coast with Pacific Bell. He loved living in Shell Beach and the five cities area which is where they raised their children Glenn and Lori. He always said there isn't a better place to live than here on the Central Coast, which suited him well since he always had a boat and almost every weekend was out fishing with his good friends. He loved the ocean if he wasn't fishing he was skin diving. Him and Gerry had a nice social life spent many years on bowling leagues at the Pismo Beach bowling alley. He had a great retirement and was able to retire when he was 54. Then Gerry and him built a home up in Kings Canyon. Then in 1997 they returned to the Central Coast and moved to Nipomo. But the most important thing for him was his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, which she spent a lot of time with especially in his latter years. He was preceded in death by his son Glenn and his wife Gerry. He is survived by his daughter Lori and Ben Iverson, and grandchildren Ben, Nick (Tori) and Candy Iverson, great grandchildren Sage, Zachary, Keelin, and Indica Iverson. There will be a celebration of life and love Saturday, April 15th in Shell Beach at the Dinosaur Caves Park at 4:20 PM.

Perk was a good friend of my Dad as they grew up together in Selma. Perk tattooed my Dad´s name on his hand in high school.
