Gary Mac Lean Obituary

Gary Mac Lean, 60, of Nipomo, was born in August 1949 in Van Nuys, Calif., and passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010, at his home. He graduated from North Hollywood High School and married Cindy, his loving wife of 40 years. To all who knew and loved Gary, he was known as "such a great guy"''¦ warm, generous, and fun-loving. He enjoyed spending time with his family during annual trips each winter to Incline, Lake Tahoe as well as boating at Lake Nacimiento in the summers. He was a drag-racer (in the good ol'' days) turned devoted fan. He looked forward to his road trips with his Harley family and weekend jaunts. Gary''s love of animals was evident from the years of caring for them, including tortoises, a hawk, an owl, 162 pigeons at one time, parrots, snakes and dogs. Gary worked with Pacific Bell for over 30 years and loved people so much that he came out of retirement to work at a local hardware store in Nipomo. Eager to please others, Gary offered a hand to anyone in need or knowledge for any task at hand. He enjoyed entertaining his friends and families at backyard barbecues accompanied by plenty of jokes and laughter. Gary is survived by his wife, Cindy; children Lisa and Brian; daughter-in-law, Aubri; grandchildren AJ and Rusty; mother, Evelyn; brother, Jon; sisters Vicki and Jan; many other loving family members; special friends Dennis and Sherrie; and numerous friends, family members and devoted pets. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2010, at Lady Family Mortuary, 555 Fair Oaks in Arroyo Grande. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any local Achievement House. Gary was an honest, loyal, and driven man who will be deeply missed by his adoring friends and family.
