Guillermo Rodriguez Obituary

Guillermo "Memito" Rodriguez was born prematurely on July 19, 1990, after his mother was airlifted to San Francisco Medical Center. Memito was taken prematurely from us, after a single vehicle collision and subsequently airlifted to Twin Cities Hospital, one day shy of his 19th birthday. Memito was thoughtful, caring, loving, enthusiastic and had a passion for life that few people ever do attain. He received his high school diploma from Templeton High School in 2008 and earned his welding certificate from Cuesta College this year. He was employed by Pacific Tank and was so proud of himself, as we also shared this with him. Memito was as passionate about his chosen trade as he was about life, and he enriched everyone''s life that knew him. He loved spending time with his family camping or barbecuing. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. He is survived by his loving mother, Nora Collier and stepfather, Michael Collier of Atascadero; little sister, Margarita; father Guillermo of Santa Paula, Calif., half-sister Ulisa; stepsister, Lindsay; stepbrother Tyler of Wisconsin; grandparents, Felipe and Olga Maduena; his inseparable cousin, Sergio; Uncle Primo and Aunt Mari; cousins Viri and Alicia Maduena; Aunt Eunice and Uncle Jose; cousins Josh and Jose Ricardo Bustamante of San Miguel, whom he shared special moments; and many extended family and friends too numerous to list. He is preceded in death by Uncle Ricardo Maduena, and step-grandmother, Naomi Collier. Viewing will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2009, at Chapel of the Roses, 3450 El Camino Real in Atascadero. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 25. 2009, at Atascadero District Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name at Golden One Credit Union.

I met Guillermo when he came to work at Pacific Tank. I often thought that he was a bright young man, with a great outlook on life. I was impressed with his eagerness to learn new tasks, and to apply himself to his life's goals. I admired him for setting goals and following up by going to school and learning his chosen trade.
He will be missed by all who worked with him.
