Irene Wolverton Obituary

Irene Wolverton, cherished mother and grandmother, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2007. She was born in North Dakota. At the age of 18 she moved to California with her husband Warren and raised her children in

Southern California. She moved to Arroyo Grande in 1968.

She loved to garden and share the bounty with friends and neighbors. She was especially known for

her delicious berries.

Above all, her dedication and

joy for her grandchildren is how she will be remembered. She loved baking custom birthday cakes for

birthdays and always had fresh cookies and coffee ready for guests. She was a fabulous cook and gladly taught her granddaughters her secrets. She kept her quick wit and sense of humor until the very end.

She is survived by her daughter Luana Herlihy and

husband Jack of Arroyo Grande; son Danny Wolverton and wife Ellen of Tollhouse, Calif.;

daughter Peggy Fowler and husband Rob of Santa

Barbara, Calif.; brother Gussie Rossknecht of Grants

Pass, Ore.; sister Lucy Wilson of Hot Springs, S.D.;

26 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and numerous

nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Warren Wolverton and infant son Michael Wolverton.

She will be greatly missed.
