Los Osos, California - Jane Gunderson Evans died at home on January 14, 2023 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Jane was born in Pasadena, CA and grew up in Des Moines, Iowa. Her family moved to Citrus Heights, CA where she attended high school, and she graduated from the University of California, Davis with a degree in mathematics and the University of Minnesota Twin Cities with a degree in education. She met her husband Gary at UC Davis and they married in 1966. After a few years moving between California, Minnesota, Chicago, and Texas, Jane and Gary settled in Los Osos where they raised their family and opened a veterinary practice. Jane was active in her church, Morro Bay Presbyterian, holding both deacon and elder positions over the years, and enjoying fellowship, bible study, and running the rummage sale with many friends. While her children were growing up, she was active with the Los Osos 4-H Club and made great memories with family and friends camping at the Mid-State Fair. Jane loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Jane had an encyclopedic knowledge of old movies, and also loved quilting and reading. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Gary, her brother, John, and her children Brian (Jodi), Laura (Michael), and Kimberly (Lance). She is also survived by her grandchildren Mathew, Keith, Adrianne (Derek), Madeleine, Ty, Josephine, and Chance, and her great-grandson Brantley. The family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Heifer International.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 19 at 1 p.m. at Morro Bay Presbyterian Church at 485 Piney Way, Morro Bay, CA 93442.
