Jeffrey Casida Obituary

Jeffrey Wayne Casida Jeffrey Wayne Casida, 65, passed away on August 6, 2017, in San Luis Obispo. He is survived by his father, Donald Casida of Salem, Ore.; his mother, Patricia Pitts and his brother, Steve Casida both of Visalia; his sister, Pamela Hazouri of San Luis Obispo; his step-sister, Colleen Reynolds; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jeff was a master carpenter and building contractor by trade. He loved working with wood and as a hobby created the most amazingly beautiful furniture, sculptures and other pieces of art. He was a mountain of a man who lived life on his own terms. He hated the question, "How are you?" and would invariably answer, "Terrible!" when asked. Jeff was a man of strong convictions and even stronger friendships. He touched many lives during his lifetime. Although he was comfortable alone, he loved socializing with people he liked, most notably his "Friday night group" and the people he met while working out at the gym. Jeff loved music, travelling and the outdoors and he especially liked hiking or biking the hills, trails and roads of San Luis Obispo. Our lives are all a little bit better for having known Jeff. He will be missed as a son, brother, uncle and friend. Sign his guestbook at sanluisobispo.com/obituaries

Jeff you always added a smile to my day. I will not only miss you and your amazing gym shirts, but the thoughtfulness and encouragement you brought to my life. Thank you for all of the wonderful veggies you left me and for your enthusiasm hearing about my trips. Will miss you, always!

Lots of love and peace to your family.

So saddened to read of Jeff's passing in today's paper. 33 years ago we were fortunate to have Jeff work his magic on our first remodel. He told me then that he had earned the nick name "curmudgeon." We will miss that tenderhearted curmudgeon.

I admired your hard work, your tenacity, your high standards. It's a loss not having you around and your friends and clients benefitted from your expertise and "get 'er done" approach. How do I feel? "Terrible!"

So many places in our home and hearts have been touched by Jeff's craftsmanship, humor and caring, although he would insist "grumpy" friendship.
