Jethro Feil Obituary

Jethro "Jed" Feil, 54, died after nearly a two-year battle with cancer Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Sierra Vista Hospital in San Luis Obispo. He was born in October 1955 in Ashley, N.D., to Samuel and Erla Feil and spent his childhood on his parents' family farm. He graduated from Wishek High School in Wishek, N.D., and worked as a journeyman carpenter in Bismarck, N.D., prior to graduating from A & P aviation training in Cheyenne, Wyo., in 1986. His career change to the aviation field created a job opportunity at Wings West in San Luis Obispo, where he met and married Linda Meehan of San Luis Obispo in 1989. He enjoyed riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles, fishing, family vacations and attending his daughter Alysson's dance and cheer competitions. Jed worked for 22 years at American Eagle, a subsidiary of American Airlines, as a supervisor, crew chief and aircraft inspector at their regional jet facility at the SLO Airport. American Eagle closed its hub at the airport in 2008, which resulted in Jed's transfer to their facility at Champaign, Ill. Jed was a devoted husband, caring father, beloved brother and a trustworthy friend. He had a gentle manner, sparkly blue eyes, a kind smile and a good sense of humor, and will be especially remembered for his willingness to help others in need. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know him. Jed is survived by his wife, Linda Feil; daughter, Alysson; sister, Deborah Feil of Stillwater, Minn.; brothers Samuel Feil of Fargo, N.D., and John Feil of Stillwater; and mother, Erla Feil of Wishek, N.D. A private burial service will be held at Los Osos Valley Memorial Park. All are invited to a celebration of Jed's life at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, 2010, at Creekside Mobile Home Community Recreation Center, 3960 S. Higuera in San Luis Obispo.

Dear Cousin Linda and Alysson,
Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. I wish I was closer but I am thinking of you here in Oklahoma. Hopefully you find comfort in knowing Jed is in a better place and someday we will all be together again. God Bless. Love, Cousin Debbie and the 2 Earnie Bells.

I am so deeply saddened by the death of my wonderful brother-in-law, Jed Feil. He was such a great man, loving father, devoted husband, an example for those who knew him. His memorial service and the celebration of his life was beautiful. Tributes to him were made by friends, family and co-workers that left so many of us in tears. There will never be another Jed Feil in this world.

Rest in Peace, Jed. You are with the Lord who called you home to Heaven.

Dear Linda and Alysson,
I was very honored to be a part of Jed's "Celebration of Life" this last weekend. The long trip from Montana to California gave me the opportunity to reflect on the relationship I personally had with Jed and how much I will deeply miss him, especially when I come back to visit everyone in California. I am very proud to this day to have been Jed's best man at your wedding and even in his passing, will live up to fulfilling that role. I love you both very much. God Bless.

Dear Linda and Alysson,
I attended Jed's "life celebration" last Saturday and was so moved by Dave Harpster's beautiful tribute to Jed that I wasn't prepared to do anything but cry. I was just blown away by all the warmth and love being shown in memory of Jed. Thus when Al pointed to me to talk about my feelings for Jed I just wasn't emotionally ready for it. I feel so bad that I wasn't able to convey what he meant to me and all his co-wokers at American Eagle. Jed was so well-liked and respected. He'll be greatly missed but not forgotten. Whenever I face tough questions in life I'll pause and ask myself WWJD--What Would Jed Do? Because Jed always did the right thing.
Love you both and just wanted to apologize again for not delivering the kind of tribute that Jed so richly deserves.

Dear Linda and Alyson,
We're sorry to hear of your loss. I remember my folks, Ervin and Shirley Feil taking us kids to their farm for visits. I remember goling to see their muscle cars, play games and play with rabbits in the hay mow. We also enjoyed the visit we had together when you came back to North Dakota. We think about you every day. May God's peace be with you.

We want to express our deepest sympathies to you. You don't know us-I am a cousin (Linda) to Jethro and his siblings. My family lived near Ashley ND, so not far to the Feil farm home. Though we have been out of touch with Jethro for many years; we did still know where he lived etc. as we saw Deb and Sam at an uncle's funeral and farm sale. Our prayers are with you in the coming days. May God's peace and comfort be with you.

Dear Linda and Alison,
So sorry to hear about this sad news. Dennis and I were talking about you the other day, laughing about the times Jed, Dennis and I would be hanging out at Disneyland together (usually people watching while waiting for the dancing to be done). Jed was always there, moving stuff around, lifting boxes, carrying costume bags, never complaining and with a big smile. We definately had some good laughs, not only through those performances but also while chaparoning high school events.
We will miss Jed's warm and gentle heart.
With Love, Astrid, Dennis, Lauren and Tessa Reeves
