Ten years have passed. I have grown older, passed my eighties, endured the pandemic, which nearly terminated my own existence, yet my memories are still vivid, thank goodness, meaning I won't ever forget you, dear John.

Dear Mary and Patti,
I wish to let you know how moved I was to learn belatedly of Jack's demise.
The remembrance of the day when I first met Jack and you all, in 1986 has stuck with me. All the time I knew him, his pointed humor, congeniality and equanimity stood out. I have tried to follow his one time counsel : "never grow old", at least in one's mind, but don't think I can do so as well as he did.
Love to all.

Dear Mary and Patti-
I have thought of all of you so often over the past 34 years or so! Have always appreciated Jack's gentle kindness and his stories when we were growing up.
Almost 70 years of marriage!

Dear Patti, Marisa, and Mary
Jack was a wonderful man and I will always remember him. I loved our long conversations, his sense of humor, his curiosity, his stories, and the joy he found in simple things like taking off to find some ice cream on a hot day. I miss him.

Dear Whelen Family,
I remember Jack from way back 35 years ago. We took a field trip
with our preschool kids to Jack and Mary's Apple Farm on Morro Road
It was delightful. He loved his place and the animals he cared for.
I also knew Jack from when my late husband,Dennis Brown, and I owned the Battery Exchange.
Dennis and our son-in-law, Troy Wilson, used to look forward to visiting with Jack
when he'd drive in with his old truck. Sometimes it was because he'd had some sort of
starting problem, but mostly it was just to talk. The subjects were varied from politics
to farming to family.
It was a pleasure knowing him and he will be missed from our lives.
Sincerely,
Marty Brown

All of the docents, past and present, at the Morro Bay Museum of Natural History send our condolences to Mary and the kids. With his twinkling blue eyes and ready wit, Jack was a fixture at the Front Desk of the Museum for many years, most recently on Sunday afternoons. Mary, too, contributed over many many years to the school programs at the Museum, notably taking reservations and wheedling docents into working. We know what a strong team they have been over so many years.

My heart & prayers go out to Mary & family during this most difficult time.
I help at the Museum of Natural History in Morro Bay and have heard many wonderful stories about Jack and his contributions there.
I knew Mary when we both drove school buses for SLO Coastal School District.
The students loved her!
Most Sincerely,
Trudy from Morro Bay

My name is Mel Sutton. I met Jack thru first meeting his wife Mary. Mary & I went thru school bus driver's training in the late 70s. After Prop 13 passed, I lost my drivers job and Mary suggested I talk to Jack about working at the apple farm. I worked for Jack thru the whole summer. I can't remember ever sweating so much. Jack & I became friends and I will always remember him. We used to talk about everything & I respected his wisdom. Rest in Peace Jack. My condolences to you Mary.
