Joseph Cooper Obituary

Joseph William Cooper - 1941 - 2017 Covington, Kentucky. Joe was one of the sweetest, most generous guys you will ever have the privilege of meeting. His children: Paul Michael and Monica Emma Cooper and her special friend Paul Roy, were some of his greatest pleasures as were his grandchildren: Paul Joseph "P.J.", Kyle Rudolph and Crystal Danielle Cooper; and their mother, Martha "Connie" Cooper. Joe was a great father, "Dad," "Pops," brother, uncle and grandfather. He was married two months short of 42 years to Denise Cooper. They motorhomed across the U.S. with family and friends. Paul Michael - "My lessons were taught by my Dad on how a man is to treat his family: To be generous, kind and punctual. And these ideals have been passed on to my children." Monica Emma - "My dad loved music and dancing. He was a good dancer with good rhythm. He loved sports, fishing, animals and beer." "PJ", Kyle and Crystal - "Grandpa Joe was a man of ceaseless compassion and boundless energy, and charitable doesn't begin to describe him. When we had doubt or concerns, he would do his best to reassure us of a brighter tomorrow because he was always optimistic. He was our HERO." Although volunteering didn't seem to be his forte, when help was needed, Joe was there. The light station early on, pulling ice plant, then Pinedorado, Meals on Wheels, and the community bus until he couldn't. He tried Dancercise and was the only man for a long time. He also loved golfing Morro Bay and Sea Pines. Fishing in the high Sierras and poker and other table games at the casinos and bingo. He was part of the Cambria Lawn Bowlers with Denise for many years and they traveled all over to meet and play at different venues. Joe will be genuinely missed. A Celebration of his Life will be held from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 9, 2017, at Shamel Park off Windsor Blvd. in Cambria. Sign his guestbook at sanluisobispo.com/obituaries

I have many fond memories of Joe and my grandpa Joe drinking coffee at 5 a.m. at the Cambria General Store every morning. Joe was such a warm person, genuinely interested in others, and a good friend to my grandparents. My condolences to Denise and the rest of the Cooper family. Rest in peace, Joe.
