Joyce Henderson Obituary

On Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, Joyce May Henderson, our loving wife and mother, passed away surrounded by her family and beloved husband of 53 years, Bob Henderson. Joyce was born in Corcoran, Calif., in May 1939. She and Bob met as young teenagers and married in 1957. After they were married, they moved to San Luis Obispo and lived there for almost 50 years. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, and traveling with Bob. They enjoyed attending their church, New Life Community. She always looked forward to breakfasts after church with their friends. Joyce was a wonderful homemaker, mother and grandmother. She fought her courageous fight with grace and dignity. There were many involved with her care and the family is very appreciative of the tender care that Dr. Stephen Hilty and his staff had with her for so many years. In addition, Hospice Partners of the Central Coast was a wonderful help and support to everyone. Joyce is survived by her husband Bob; daughter, Terry (Dave) Selstad; son, Tim (Tracy) Henderson; grandchildren Melissa (Adam) Muller, Robert McDonald, Scott Henderson, Holly Selstad and Andrew Henderson; sister, Laveda (Bill) Tarnoff; twin sister, Janice (Richard) Hayes; and brother, Bob (Glenda) Kimbriel; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Joyce will be sorely missed by her family and friends, but we rejoice in knowing she is with the Lord. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2010, at Los Osos Valley Mortuary. A reception will follow at First Baptist Church in San Luis Obispo.

Dear Bob, Terry, Tim and families,
Another one of our great friends is gone from this earth to meet the Lord. I will never forget the fun we’ve had together these past many years. Even when Joyce felt so bad, she hung in there and joined the fun, never complaining even though she had so much to complain about. Even in September while she was so sick she and Bob went out of their way to bring flowers to me during my own loss. What a beautiful lady! She will be sorely missed. Sending prayers and lots of love to Bob and families.
