Kenneth Ecklund Obituary

Kenneth Ecklund On March 12th, 2016, Kenneth Ray Ecklund passed peacefully at his home in Atascadero, California. He was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, in January 1935. After graduation from Fort Dodge High School in 1953 he joined the U.S. Marine Corp and served until 1957. Following his discharge he moved to Santa Monica, Calif. It was at Trinity Baptist Church in Santa Monica that he met and married the love of his life, Lois Anne Ecklund. In 1961 he graduated from UCLA and began a 44 year career in the semiconductor industry as a Quality Assurance-Reliability Manager and Vice President. He retired from his last and favorite position with Corwil, a firm in Santa Clara County. Ken and Lois had four children and in 1970 moved the family to Sunnyvale, Calif., where they became active members of the Sunnyvale Presbyterian Church. Ken was a leader, advisor, and mentor to many in the 4-H Club program in Santa Clara County. He enjoyed working with youth through Indian Guides, 4-H, and the church education program. Ken always had a dream of moving and living near San Luis Obispo, Calif., and he got his wish in 2006 when he retired. In Atascadero, Calif., he was surrounded by loyal friends from the Templeton Presbyterian Church, and close personal friends throughout the community. He is survived by his wife, Lois, and his children: Steven Ecklund (Kelly), Dan Ecklund (Joy), Kristin Evans, and Kathleen Beasley. He is also survived by ten grandchildren: Castin, Travis, Nash, Lauren, Jacob, Kenneth, Kimberly, Katie, Mclean and Adam. Ken will be remembered for the twinkle in his eyes and his wonderful smile. The family is grateful for the care given to Ken by Gentiva Home Health, Wilshire Hospice, Angela Hammer, Eric Outen and members of Templeton Pres. Services will be held at Templeton Presbyterian Church, April 23, 2016, at 11:00am. Sign his guestbook at sanluisobispo.com/obituaries
