Kenneth Lemelle Obituary

Kenneth Wayne Lemelle, 59, of Nipomo passed away Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, in Morro Bay.

Kenneth "Kenny" was born in November 1948 in Los Angeles to George Lemelle Jr. and Lorraine Lemelle.

Kenny served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He returned to Southern California and went to work for The Gas Company, where he worked for 35 years, until his retirement in 2006.

In 1991, he met the love of his life, Monica, at a Monday Night Football party. They married in 1993 and son, Nicholas, came along in 1999. They loved to travel and visited many wonderful and exotic places, as a couple and as a family.

Kenny was a kind and giving person who loved sending time with his family and adored playing with his son, Nick. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, love of dancing, playing the drums (congas), and listening to all types of muisc, especially Cuban and Jazz.

He was an avid bass fisherman, and since his retirement, had more time for his favorite sport and participated in tournaments throughout the Central Coast area. He was well known and respected by his fellow fishermen, who will miss his passion for the sport and easy going style.

Kenny is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife, Monica Lemelle; daughter, Keri Lemelle, son, Nicholas Lemelle; mother, Lorraine Lemelle; brother, George Lemelle III; aunt, Estelle Malancon; brother-in-law Richard (Francis) Rodriguez; sister-in-law, Rosie Molnar and her husband, Ron; sister-in-law, Martha Reyes and her husband, Bobby; sister-in-law, Tammy Ontiveros and her husband Robert; and sister-in-law Adriana Macias and her fiancé Kent Simmons; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, George "Jackrabbit" Lemelle Jr.; aunt, Elaine Powers; brother-in-law, Juan Carlos Marban; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Lemelle.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, 2008, with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. at the Garcia Mortuary Chapel, 629 So. A St. in Oxnard.

The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at Santa Clara Church in Oxnard, with interment to follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura.

Monica and family, I am sorry to learn of your loss. Undoubtedly, your family and you are suffering greatly. I hope you can find comfort in knowing that the Bible promises the following: "The hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear [Jesus'] voice and come out." (John 5:28, 29) "There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous. (Acts 24:15). May you also find solace with wonderful memories of joyful times together. You will be in my prayers.
