Larry Brindley Obituary

Larry Lee Brindley Larry Lee Brindley was born in Sioux Falls, S.D. in February of 1939. Larry lived in Walnut, Iowa until the age of 12. Larry moved to San Diego, CA with his mother Grace and brother Barry. Larry was a competitor and star athlete in football, baseball and basketball at Mission Bay H.S. Larry graduated MBHS in 1957 and married high school sweet- heart Karen Strong in 1958. Larry and Karen lived in San Diego where they raised 4 children. Larry worked various jobs until he joined the Plumbers union in 1962. Larry's life was his family. He enjoyed coaching kids, both boys baseball and girls softball, including international girls softball, 15 to 20 year olds. He also played AAA fast pitch softball until age 45. After moving to Cayucos, CA in 1983 and working for Diablo Canyon until retirement from the plumbing union in 1990, he then worked for Cayucos Sanitary Dept. for ten years. Our children moved to Cayucos and started their lives. With 2 children each we were able to enjoy grandkids and all the sports they played. Larry and Karen attended almost every ball game any of the family members played. He was an avid reader, loved sports and loved playing cards daily with his wife and family. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Karen; his 3 children: Larry (Robin) Brindley, Cindy (Mark) Walton, and Randy (Pamela) Brindley; his grandchildren: Cody and Rachel Brindley, James and Matt Prange, Joseph (Molly) and Joshua Brindley; and his great-granddaughter, Dellabee. Larry is preceded in death by his father, Joshua Joe Brindley; his mother, Grace Brindley; brother, Barry; and son, Rick. There will be a Celebration of Life from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, on April 7th at the Cayucos Vets Hall (tent). In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the Heart Association or Cancer Society. .

I was lucky enough to meet both Mr & Mrs B at the young age of 15, and I've loved them both ever since. Hard imagining that I won't ever get another bear hug or hear that voice again. Sending love and hugs to the whole family! You all will be in my thoughts & prayers Saturday. Sorry to have to miss it. Love, Kim Gomez

We had so much camping over the years with our families. Many trips dove hunting, golfing, card games and you always enjoyed being competitive in all you did. That came from your love of sports. Had fun in the Elks until you moved to Cayucos, then many trips back and forth to San Diego. We love you and will miss you! Chuck & Kay

Larry is still remembered as one of the great sd athletes, especially those who played against him, and with him in an allstar game sooo many years ago. We lost touch, but what a great family and community legacy he built on the central coast, no surprise. God bless him and your family.
