Marshall Bradford Obituary

Marshall Bradford Marshall Duncan Bradford passed away peacefully on January 4th, 2016, in Arroyo Grande, California. He was born in December 1914 in Fairfield, Texas. His family moved to Seagraves, Texas, in 1922. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from Texas Tech, and he also attended Oklahoma State University. Marshall was appointed city manager in Seagraves and held that position for three years before going into military service. He spent 41 months in the Army, serving his time in France and Belgium. His unit received two battle stars for the Battle of the Bulge and the Ardennes Forrest. Upon being honorably discharged from the Army in 1945, he took a job as a surveyor for a geophysical company. Through advancement he became an area manager, and spent the next 25 years of his career in geophysical oil exploration in several countries such France, Libya, Venezuela, Australia, New Guinea, Philippines and Canada. He was the Far East area manager for the Philippines and Australia. Marshall was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He was an active member of the society of exploration Geophysicists for 25 years. In the 1960's he moved his family to Arroyo Grande, where he purchased the Ken Mar Gardens Trailer Park on Halcyon road, which he ran for several years. Marshall loved golf and fishing, and upon retirement he traveled each year to Washington to salmon fish with his wife Opal. He was also a member of the Church of Christ in Grover Beach. He is survived by his son, Andy (Angela) and grandchildren, Andrew and Melissa (Brian), as well as great-grandchildren, Ava and Sophie. Rest in Peace Dad. A Service for Marshall will occur at 1:00pm on Wednesday, January 13, at the Arroyo Grande Cemetery. World War II veterans and others are welcome to attend.
