Michael Bouchie Obituary

Michael Charles Bouchie

Michael Charles Bouchie entered into eternal rest on August 15, 2014 at the age of 59. He was preceded in death by one brother, Stephen Bouchie, and his maternal and paternal grandparents. Michael Bouchie is known as Pops to his six children, Mike, Tim and wife Melony, Tara and husband Sean, Anne, Ben, C.J. and to John Dagen and wife Miriam, who were also his family; he is known as PopPop to his grandchildren, Kendall, Kayleigh, Ellie, Seth, and Ashton; and simply as Mike to the love of his life, Brenda Kojis Bouchie and to his parents, Charles and Mary Ann Bouchie. Mike also boasts a large extended family of beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and more. Mike was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Mary Ann and Charles Bouchie. He moved with his family to Louisiana in 1970. He completed high school at Bolton High School in Alexandria and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. After serving four years, he was honorably discharged and returned to Alexandria. While in Alexandria, he met and married Brenda, continued to work on his degree, and began his career in broadcasting. While building their family, Brenda and Mike lived in several cities in Louisiana, settling in Natchitoches in 2005. After working as a radio D.J. while completing his college degree, Mike began a successful career as a salesman, first in all fields of broadcasting: radio, cable, television, and newspaper, and finishing with his brother, David, in the HV/AC field. His final position was with the Alexandria branch of the R.E. Michel Company. Michael was always deeply involved in whichever community he was living. His interests and altruistic efforts were numerous and very diversified. Most recently, Mike was active as a lector in his parish of the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, president-elect of the Brother's Keepers Motorcycle Group, member of the Knights of Columbus, and a volunteer firefighter with District 6 Fire District. Mike loved his entire family most of all. Services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Minor Baslica of the Immaculate Conception, on Second Street, in Natchitoches, LA. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 22, 2014 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a rosary being said at 7:00 pm at Blanchard - St. Denis Funeral Home, 848 Keyser Ave., in Natchitoches, LA. Pallbearers for the service will be Mike's own young men -- sons, Michael, Timothy, Benjamin, C.J., son-in-law, Sean McConathy, and son-by-choice, John Dagen. Interment will follow at Memory Lawn Cemetery in Natchitoches, LA. In memory of Mike, donations may be made to the Covenant House at www.covenanthouse.org. Dearest Brenda and family,

How sad it was to learn of Mike's passing. Over the years spent working with him, I was blessed to be in his presence - he was always smiling, always up-beat, and always kind.

And it was a privilege for me to attend his service today with so many who loved and honored him. Mike was truly a man of character who had positive impact upon all who knew him.

Our family's recent and similar loss makes us acutely aware and sympathetic to yours. You, and your beautiful family will be in our thoughts and prayers daily.

I was blessed to know Mike when he worked in The Shreveport-Bossier media market. He was a true professional, but more importantly, he was a considerate, caring man with a kind word and warm smile for everyone he met. I was honored to call him my friend for many years!

They say the good die young. Mike was the BEST of men and certainly left us way too soon. While a new star shines in Heaven, the world is dimmer here on Earth. My heart and prayers go out to his beloved family. God Bless

Ernie was a great neighbor of mine in the barracks (roomed next door) in Upper Heyford. He performed his duties very well and was easy to be with on posted, foot or mobile patrol. When I was on TDY to Law Enforcement, he helped the U.S. and England by getting a "very bad guy" with me (no kidding). He always had a smile on his face, even when he had his impacted wisdom teeth pulled!! That was Ernie, all the time! My truest condolences to his love-filled family.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Michael Charles Bouchie our “Brother-in-Arms”. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Michael. And to Michael it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country while serving as in the U.S. Air Force. Michael, we commend you for your honorable service. You are a true patriot, who served with honor and distinction. You upheld the finest qualities of an American patriot warrior: courage, commitment, generosity, sacrifice, love and devotion to family and country. You were a true friend. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,261 military veteran Legionnaires of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion and the 233 veterans of VFW Post 2238 in Shreveport, Louisiana, we extend our sympathies and our condolences to Michael's family and loved ones.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, I have attached this poem in hopes that it will bring you comfort in this difficut time.

SAFELY HOME

I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I an now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.

Did you wonder I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! But Jesus' love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.

And He came Himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus' arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?

Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still:
Try to look beyond earth's shadows,
Pray to trust our Father's Will.

There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth--
You shall rest in Jesus' land.

When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the pleasure of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!

I am so sorry to hear about Mike's death. When the Priest family lived in Alexandria, the Bouchie family were our friends. Mike was my first crush way back when I was 13. He was so kind then and I am sure he was so all the way through his life. My thoughts are with his loving family, his wife, children and grandchildren, his brothers, and his parents.

We were saddened to hear of your great loss. C. J., you are the only child of Mike's that I knew and I know he loved you with all of his heart. You are a blessed young man to have had such a good Dad. I always enjoyed our conversations at Parent Teacher Conferences and when he worked on our air conditioners. May your memories sustain you and your family as you grieve your loss.

Our hearts broke when we heard Mike died. We all grew up in the same neighborhood and those bouchie boys were
frequent visitors at our house .... Mike Parker, Ken Parker, Dianna (Parker) Dauzart and Cathy (Parker) Richardson. Oh, and my hubby Ronnie Richardson certainly thought a lot of Mike. Also, Mike's dad, Charlie and I (at the time Cathy Ryland) served together in225thEngineer Group. Mike was also a veteran, so I salute both my brothers with honor and respect and Ronnie and I send our love .................til we meet again, our friend !!!!!!!!!! Peace, love and God's comfort to all your family, Mike.c

We have lost a true Christian Brother, a motorcycle buddy, and an all around great guy. My heart goes out to Brenda, Mike's family and friends. Mike will always be a true friend.
If I could reach up and hold a star for every time Mike made me smile, the entire evening sky would be in the palm of my hand. While we will all miss Mike, I know the Good Lord needed a motorcycle riding buddy and chose Mike to ride along side of him. I can see Mike with the wind in his hair and that grin on his face right now.

I am so sad to hear of Mike's passing. I grew up in Alexandria with him. However, all of the Bouchie brothers have a special part of my family history as they all helped take care of my grandfather when he lived next door to them on Oxford St. Many long years ago, but you never forget the kindness of those that do great things. I haven't kept in touch with Mike, but know that he was much loved and respected and gone way too early. May God bless you all and help you at this time.
