Michael Foster Obituary

Michael Foster Michael Bruce Foster passed away on the morning of December 8, 2016. He was 62 years old. He was born on May 13, 1954, in San Luis Obispo, California to Jack Sloan Foster and Charlotte Patricia Foster. He attended Ocean View and Harloe Elementary Schools and Arroyo Grande High School, where he graduated in 1972. After high school, he worked for several construction contractors and for his father's company until he became manager of his parent's mobile home park in Pismo Beach, California, where he was recognized as president of the Mobile Home Park Association of California. Soon after, he returned to construction, earning his contractor's license which lead to him being publicly recognized for his years of "Dedicated Service to the San Luis Obispo County Building Contractors Association and the Construction Industry." Upon leaving construction he became Property Manager for the McMillan Center in San Luis Obispo. Mike was a loving husband to his wife Lisa, and a wonderful father to his children Seth, Ian and Tierza. He was involved with all his children's activities and was highly involved in Boy Scouts where he became a Scout leader and eventually Scout Master of Pack 402 for several years. He loved working with kids. Mike was a member of the San Luis Obispo Elks Lodge where he was a Trustee. He loved all of his Elk friends and they loved him. Mike was a man of many interests. He was an ardent movie buff and enjoyed watching his favorites (Godzilla, The Quiet Man and Deep Impact to name a few) over and over again; he played the guitar and sang beautifully; but there were few things he enjoyed more than lighting a cigar and hosting one of his legendary barbeques while laughing with friends and loved ones. Mike was born Christian and raised his children as such. He was very proud of the adults they became. Mike is survived by his wife Lisa; sons Seth and Ian (Masataka); daughter Tierza Foster Little (Ryan); two grandchildren Kensei and Erin; his parents Jack and Pat; two brothers Brad and Scott and their wives; and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. A Celebration of Life for Michael Foster will be held at the San Luis Obispo Elks Lodge at 11:00am, Saturday, January 21, 2017. Sign his guestbook at sanluisobispo.com/obituaries

Mike may have been the biggest Cub Scout ever, and that describes only his heart. He inspired so many young men, including my son, Michael, to achieve the level of Eagle. A truly good guy, who lived with love for his own children and dedicated the time necessary to help other children develop into compassionate citizens of our community.

There is an old saying Mike, that when one passes from this world to the next on a rainy day, they get to go straight to heaven. The rain are tears of joy, because God has you back in his arms. Until we all meet again. Love you my friend.
