Patsy Talbott Obituary

Patsy Anne Talbott, 80, died after a long illness Friday, May 31, 2013, in Walnut Creek, Calif. She was born Patsy Anne Davis in 1932 in Ozark County, Mo. Her parents, Sallie Anne and John Homer Davis, had 10 other children and raised the family in Bakersfield, Mo., in a small farmhouse with no electricity or running water. Patsy finished high school at 16, then went on to graduate from Southwest Missouri State College. She taught school in a one-room schoolhouse in Bakersfield, and then taught elementary school in booming post-World War II in San Diego, Calif. She met Laurence Fletcher Talbott on a blind date, and married him on February 14, 1963, in Las Vegas, Nev. In 1968, they moved from Los Angeles to San Luis Obispo, where Larry took a teaching job in Cal Poly's Industrial Technology Department. Patsy later earned her master's degree in education at Cal Poly. They raised their family in San Luis Obispo. After Larry retired, they had adventures in England, Ireland, Australia, Mexico and all over the U.S. She moved to the Bay Area in 2005 to be closer to her daughters. Patsy could knit, crochet, sew, can food, build patios, fix almost anything and made our house a place of love and laughter. She lived life with no regrets or resentments. She was our Mom, our Grammy, our G-G. We will miss her so very much. Patsy was survived by her son, Michael (Zena); daughters MaryAnne (Chris) and Susan (Matt); grandchildren Michelle, Chandler, Eva, Eleanor and Finn; and great-granddaughter, Amelia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry, in 1999. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013, at the Los Osos Valley Memorial Park in Los Osos. Donations in her name can be made to your local Hospice or children's library. Los Osos Valley Mortuary 528-1500 Los Osos

I'm so deeply sorry for your loss. Your sweet, giving, talented, generous mother touched so many lives. I'm forever grateful to her for creating and sewing my wedding gown and veil back in '84. She is sorely missed and will always hold a special place in my heart.

Dear Susan and MaryAnn, I am so sorry for you loss. I still remember how kind and welcoming your Mom was to me when we were kids, it made a huge impression on me.

when mom & dad visited aunt Patsy there was some confusion on what I wanted them to bring back. Mom had got it in her head that I wanted an angel. Aunt Patsy searched until she found the perfect angel for me. I didn't want an angel but I loved it. That angel was the first in my angel collection. God bless her and the rest of the family.

I lived down the street from the Talbott's for a few years when I was really small (late 1960's). Susan was my first real friend. I remember that her house was fun to visit, mostly because her mom, Mrs. Talbott, was so nice.
My condolences to the entire family.
