Ronald Siskey Obituary

Ronald Edward Siskey was born August 25, 1966, in Visalia, California, to Stan and Linda Siskey. The family moved to Shell Beach in 1971, and then to Grover Beach in 1975. Ron's love for baseball began at age 4 when he started going to local ball games with his surrogate grandparents- next door neighbors Gladys and Roscoe.

After graduating from Arroyo Grande High School in 1984, he began coaching high school, junior college, and ultimately Babe Ruth League Baseball for 30+ years.

Ron also enjoyed golfing- a hobby he took on at age 14 after caddying for a family friend. The following year he began working at the golf course in Avila, often riding his bicycle to work. His tenure at the golf course lasted almost 40 years, as he rose from greens keeper to Golf Course Superintendent.

Ron died peacefully in his sleep early Sunday morning, July 27, in Bakersfield, where he had gone to play in a golf tournament. He is survived by his parents Linda and Stan, his brother Doug, nephews Jacob (Danielle) and Nickolas, an uncle, aunts, and many cousins. A memorial service is planned for Noon on October 4, at LifePoint Church, 207 Pilgrim Way, Arroyo Grande. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a veterans organization or the USO.

Earlier today

Rocket“s infectious cackle and larger than life personality will be sorely missed. His unwavering commitment and dedication to Central Coast high school aged baseball is unrivaled. He gave so many of us opportunities to play and travel that we otherwise would not have had and for that I am forever grateful.
