Shannon Carpenter Obituary

Shannon Carpenter - 1967-2018. Our precious Shannon passed away on June 23, 2018, survived by a large, loving family of parents, cousins, nephews and nieces. She loved people and she loved and understood animals. To everyone who knew her Shannon was an angel. Even when suffering from her own illnesses, she would make the time to take her friends to their own doctors' appointments, something she always did with a loving, giving heart. She attended Cal Poly, and later ended up in the Santa Cruz area where she worked as a park ranger. It was there she suffered her first of five tick bites, bites which eventually became a dreaded Lyme disease, an illness she lived with her until her death. Shannon came to Arroyo Grande some 18 years ago, and before long it seemed like everybody in town knew her: she worked at a local bank, was receptionist at a hotel and loved her time caring for animals at a pet clinic. When it came to her four-legged friends, Shannon knew everything about them. Shannon was a true animal whisperer, and even enjoyed an earlier stint helping to train exotic animals for the movies. On occasion, a person walks into your life and you are changed forever; that was Shannon. Everyone she touched felt her loving presence. Opinionated? Yes. Fair? Without a doubt. Tough at times? Absolutely. But all those marvelous qualities together made Shannon one of the most remarkable human beings ever created. Her faith was deep and her belief in a loving God was strong. Most days that was enough to keep her going. Shannon was a beacon of light to those whose lives were ripped apart by the rocks and shoals of life. She was a compassionate angel of light to so many who had lost their way. God bless you Shannon Rest in peace...a peace that was so hard for you to find while you were with us. For you, the worst is over. Your memory is forever etched in our hearts. A service Celebrating Shannon's Life will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 28th at Nipomo Presbyterian Church, in Nipomo, CA. If you wish to honor Shannon's life, you can make a donation in her name to Nipomo Presbyterian Church or to any local animal shelter.
