Victor Chavez Obituary

Victor Vincente Chavez, 68, of Las Vegas, Nev., died after a two-year battle with cancer Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, surrounded by his family and friends at a Hospice care facility. He was born in November 1943 in Paso Robles and graduated from Paso Robles High School in 1962. He joined the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was employed at the California Youth Authority for 30 years prior to retiring to Las Vegas, where he worked security for the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Santa Fe Station and Silverton Casino. Victor is loved and will be missed by all.  Victor is survived by his wife of 43 years, Karen; children Victoria, Joey, Clint and Nicole; nine grandchildren; brother, Larry Chavez; and sisters Dolores Garcia, Nancy Rau and Toni Chavez of California, Lillian King and Linda Wilson of Oregon and Coni Smith and Leslie Miller of Arizona. His parents, Vicente and Julia Chavez, preceded him in death. A gathering of family and friends is being planned for a later date.
