Oceano, California - Wallace Elbert "Wally" Potter, 88, born in Crook County, Oregon; died at home in Oceano, California on October 30, 2021. Wally was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War, where he served as a truck driver, arriving at Inchon shortly after the invasion. He worked in the gas construction division of PG&E for 27 years and retired to care for his ailing wife. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, riding in the Dunes, spending time with his dog Willy, and working with his hands on various woodworking projects. He was known for helping his friends in any situation at any time. He made time to talk to people wherever he went. He is survived by a son and a stepson; five step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren. The much-maligned term "step" really doesn't reflect the amount of love and joy he shared with the family, and Wally will be sorely missed by friends and family. He was preceded in death by his wife, his sister and his brother. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at the Arroyo Grande Cemetery, 895 El Camino Real, Arroyo Grande. All friends are invited to attend and to share their thoughts and memories.
