Zak McConnell

Zak McConnell, age 26, of Dahlonega, Ga., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013. Zak was a lifelong resident of Lumpkin County and an accomplished musician. He was a teaching assistant at the University of Georgia where he was enrolled in the MBA program. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Lumpkin County. Zak was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Sue McConnell; and Dillard and Gwen Norrell. Zak is survived by his wife, Lacee Sheffield McConnell; parents, Frank J. "Mac" and Tona Norrell McConnell; and brother, Zeb McConnell, all of Dahlonega, Ga. Numerous aunts; uncles; and cousins; many friends; and a number of other relatives also survive. Funeral services for Zak are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Dahlonega Baptist Church. The Rev. Gene Davis, the Rev. Michael Rogers, and the Rev. Raymond Prince will officiate. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Jones Chapel Cemetery in Lumpkin County. The family will receive friends at Banister Funeral Home in Dahlonega from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013.
