Brenda Gary Kyle of Wimberley, Texas passed away peacefully in the company of her husband, daughter, and son on November 13, 2025.
Born in Brady, TX to Viola Lawrence Gary and Wilton Travis Gary, Sr. on July 14, 1941, Brenda was a daughter in a family of devoted brothers. She spent two years attending San Angelo College, which she left in the early 1960's for Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos (now Texas State University, though she would never call it that!) to obtain a teaching degree. During school she worked at First National Bank, where she soon met her one true love and husband H.C. Kyle who worked at the Kyle, Walker, and Gossett Law Firm upstairs. They wed in 1965 and celebrated their 60 years of marriage together on September 4, 2025.
Brenda had a teacher's servant heart. She taught school in San Marcos, Texas, first as a business services instructor at San Marcos High School for nine years, and then after taking a break to teach and raise her own children from 1975 to 1989, returned to instruct language arts for eleven more years at Owen Goodnight Junior High school in San Marcos.
Brenda was a servant of the Lord, and her faith was the foundation of everything she did. As a leader in the First United Methodist Church in San Marcos, Texas she served her congregation faithfully for more than 50 years, where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was also active in Bible Study Fellowship and Community Bible Study.
Above all Brenda Kyle was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother (lovingly known as Gran.) She'd do anything for her family, the pride and the joy of her world.
Brenda literally never met a stranger. She could look you in the eye, listen with her whole heart, and then speak to you as if you were the only person in the room. It was her quiet superpower: turning ordinary interactions into moments of connection, hope, and warmth. She didn't just notice people, she honored them.
Her strength never overshadowed her softness, and her softness never lessened her strength; together, they made her extraordinary. There is no doubt that Brenda was ushered into heaven with the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
Brenda Kyle is survived by her devoted husband Henry (H.C.) Kyle, daughter Katherine Kyle James and husband Steven, son Allen Kyle and wife Becca, brothers Travis Gary, WT and wife Wanda Gary, Rick and wife Kia Gary, three grandchildren Joshua, Noah, and Daniel Kyle, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by parents Viola and Wilton Travis Gary, sister-in-law Pat Gary, and nephew Justin Gary.
A memorial service will be held Thursday November 20th at 11 AM at First United Methodist Church in San Marcos, Texas, with visitation at the same location available 10 AM to 11 AM. A private, family graveside internment service will be held later that day. July 14, 1941 - November 13, 2025
