Raul Cortez Rodriguez, Jr.

Raul Cortez Rodriguez, Jr., known to all as Rabb, departed this life in the early morning hours

of June 20, 2022, at home after a lengthy illness surrounded by his loved ones. Rabb was born

on April 5, 1954, to Elisa (Cortez) and Raul Rodriguez. He was raised by his mother and

stepfather Judge John Polanco.

From a very young age Rabb played a variety of instruments. The guitar and bass being the

first two. Later, he added the drums to his repertoire. He was a great singer as well with a strong

melodic voice. He was also a prolific composer. His musical tastes ran from traditional Mexican

to Classic Rock to Blues. He played in many local bands such as: the bands of Gilbert Cruz,

Alfonso Ramos and Isidor Lopez, Bobby Fuentes y Los Flames, Yerba Buena, Alma, Johnny

Gonzalez and the New Sensations, Los Spacers, Los Rockeros and founded the long-standing

Rabb Rodriguez y Los Killa Hogs.

He is survived by former wife and caregiver, Cindy Smith; two sons, Tommy and Jimi

Rodriguez; a stepbrother, Johnny Polanco and former sister-in-law Yolanda Cuevas; Brothers

Rene, Raul, Roy and Bobby; Sisters Sylvia and Terri, their families and many nieces, nephews

and cousins.

The family would like to thank: Halcyon Hospice, especially Franchesca, Caradee, Rina and

Larry, Yetzy, and the Prayer Warriors.

Donations will be thankfully accepted by the family to offset Rabb's final expenses. Please

make payable to Cindy Smith.

Arrangements for a funeral Mass are pending at this time.
