Ruth Ferrer Obituary
Born in Geronimo, Texas to Fernando and Rosa Trinidad, she lived at Freeman Ranch for many years where her father was ranch foreman.
Survivors include her daughter Cindy Dean (Glenn); sons Hector Ferrer (Brenda), Rene Ferrer; grandchildren Vincent Ledesma (Cynthia), Christopher Dean (Elaine), Alexias and Carina Ferrer; great-grandchildren Lily and Cecilia Ledesma, Oliver and Elora Dean; sisters Frances Sierra (Art), Rose Martinez (Juan), Emma Zamora; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Ferrer, her daughter Sylvia Ferrer-Ledesma, her father and mother, sisters Alice Hurtado, Isabel T. Garcia, Ofelia Vasquez-Philo; and brothers, Simon and Jacinto Trinidad.
She was a stay-at-home mom, raising her four children and often babysitting her nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Ruth had an incredible green thumb and could make just about anything grow from a small clipping. She often had a booth of plants for sale at the annual St. John's Catholic Church fiesta.
She took great pleasure in travelling with her sisters--an event that became known as "the sisters' trip"--and playing slot machines at Kickapoo, Wind Star, and Coushatta Casinos.
Ruth will be remembered for her gentle soul, lovable personality, kindness, and generous heart.
Services were held at Thomason Funeral Home in San Marcos on Friday, September 23. Interment took place Saturday, September 24 at Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale, Texas, Garden of the Cross section.
