Sharon O'Brien Obituary

Sharon Lynn O'Brien departed our lives on the morning of Tuesday, September 12, 2023. She is survived by her mother Julia, brothers, Robert and Thomas, three sons Gregory, Benjamin and William, and six grandchildren. She was a devoted mother and daughter and will be deeply missed.

Born on Friday, July 13, 1956, to Bennie and Julia Heathman, Sharon would live an extremely interesting life. From riding co-pilot in jets with her father to cruising the seas with her mother, Sharon was well traveled. She saw the skies above Berlin, and she saw the depths of the Caribbean. One thing she loved most was the sun and fresh air.

For 25 years Sharon has been a resounding voice in the community. Taking on a position with the Hays County Volunteer Fire Department, she rose to the position of Commissioner and was a pivotal player in their expansion and capabilities. She cared greatly for the community and was a friend to all who met her.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate that donations be made to the American Lung Association (https://www.lung.org). Per Sharon's request, there will not be a public memorial, however, family and friends will be celebrating her life at a later date. Sharon was overwhelmingly loved and will be genuinely missed by all who knew her.

We loved your mother. Sharon loved to laugh and she loved our Monk. She was there for him when he needed her the most. She was a true friend and a joy to be around. She was a very interesting and adventurous person and shared her opinions, she was a matter fact type person and so honest. I loved that about her. I will miss our phone chats but I am grateful she is in no more pain. Keith is so grateful that he was able to visit with her and had no idea that she would be gone so quickly. We love you wild woman, rest in peace and tell your Mike and our Monk hello with large hugs and kisses

I´m pretty speechless. What a loss. She was a staunch supporter of the Fire Department, but especially the SMART dive team. Her support changed so many lives. A true and unselfish public servant. She will be missed by many.

We met Sharon and Julia on a cruise and quickly bonded. Two beautiful souls we were blessed to have known. Our heartfelt condolences to the family. Please remember, "to live in one's heart is to never die". Sharon will live forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Many fine memories (over 30 years) of times in Dunkin´s garage, at our house in Siesta Verde and the cruise among others.

I just learned about Sharon's passing and am so sad to hear about it. Even though we did not see each other often in recent years, she was always one of my favorite people to be around. Prayers for her Mom and the rest of the family.
