null Brindle Obituary

Brindle died at home on August 4, 2009 at age 58. Born to Richard and Jeanne Sweigart on January 15, 1951 in Bellevue, Pennsylvania, she has been an icon of strength, empowerment and creativity in Santa Cruz since 1979. Some may remember her as the lead percussionist in Santa Cruz's own world beat band, "Pele Juju," or dancing to her melodious beats in countless African Dance classes. She inspired many with her quick wit, deep wisdom and playful heart.

Brindle is survived by her mother Jeanne, sister Kim, brothers Rick, Brad & Joe, and her beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded by father Dick and sister Janet. She leaves behind her adoring family Marian, Harry, Athena, Debrae and Michele.

Brindle has touched so many, many people. We all loved her dearly and she will be missed every single day. She will live on in the rhythm of each of our beating, breaking, open hearts.

My dear friend of long ago. You and I would drive down that ten mile stretch of road from Bonne Doon with our two buckets and hammers, which we used to pry mussels off the big rock at Davenport. You were never one of the average who dared not stand alone. Always independent of spirit.

I will cherish for ever, my memories of the beat of Brindle's drum, her smile and her courage to play with all of the guys. I danced many a dance to the rhythms she played, loved and adored her from afar. I send my condolences to her beloved partner, family and friends. The world is a better place because Brindle was here and touched many people.

While we can take refuge in knowing that Brindle is still with us in spirit, I feel a deep loss that she's no longer present here in body. I send much love and support to her closest family and friends during these difficult times and transition. I carry much love in my heart for Brindle and will always see her smile and hear her kind words in my heart and mind. Drum for us in Heaven Brindle.

Many knew you as Brindle but I knew you as "Pammy". You were such a fantastic big sister and I will cherish everything we shared. You always knew how to make me laugh. Say hello to Dad and "teet". I love you and pray that we will be together again on the other side. Love Kimmy

I only knew Brinn indirectly through her dear friend Lynn. We never met. I learned of Brinn's fight with cancer and the ups and downs the last few years. My heart goes out to Brinn's friends and family.

Brinnie- I will always remember you-
I can still see that wonderful smile and hear your laughter - I will always remember you and my sister Lynn acting "CRAZY" calling each other "MOMMA"- you were a joy to behold- I also remember how you and Kathy Pouls drummed at my mom's memorial- and how much you were a part of our famliy too over the years.....You fought such a hard fight these past 6 years-.... My heart goes out to Marian and Harry- you were her loves- she was so proud of Harry and so in love with you both... It will be hard to fill the void- I send big hugs to you both and I most of all send peace to your hearts......
Till we all meet again... you hold a special place in my heart dear Brindle-
