Alan Sims Obituary

Alan Sims
Jan. 20, 1935 - Oct. 6, 2012
Resident of Scotts Valley
Alan MacLeod Sims passed away quietly in his sleep last night. October 6th, 2012. He contributed generously to and helped many people during his full life, in addition to informing, inspiring, and entertaining many with his wit and wisdom during his lifetime . Alan McLeod (Mac) Sims died during the night after winning a card game with his friends. His third wife of 35 years, Zelda Sims discovered that she could not wake him up the morning of October 6th. His grieving wife, Zelda Sims, his granddaughter, Lauren Hannah Phillips, his daughters, Tara McLeod Moore and Margot Sims mourn his passing. During his life, Alan, or Mac as many called him, had helped many to succeed. His loyal worker Dick James who managed Alan's properties accompanied Zelda on the first shocking day of the discovery. Margot has flown in to the USA from Mexico to comfort her mother and to mourn her Dad's passing. Alan raised Margot as his very own daughter, and also was a devoted grandparent to her son, Alex Gonzalez.
As a young man, Alan was a life insurance salesman and fathered two children, Tara and Grant Sims. During his youth, he bought and fixed up houses to sell, helping him to achieve his goals.
Because Alan was able to retire early, he helped many others with his generosity to achieve their dreams: He helped Tara Moore to get her college education and her teacher's credential, his granddaughter, Lauren Phillips, to finish high school and to graduate from Fashion Industry and Design school in San Francisco (FIDM) and she is now successfully designing, fashioning , and selling her clothing in Eugene Oregon. Alan also supported a young boy in Mexico, helping him to finish school and brought him to the USA for corrective eye surgery. In addition, Alan helped Margot's' son, Alex, to attend a prestigious college in the US. Also, Alan helped various family members through their times of crises. He used his fortune for good to many.
Alan MacLeod Sims was well liked for his wit, intelligence, and story-telling ability. He has written a collection of short stories, 100 percent Almost Totally True Grandpa Stories.
