Annie Southworth Obituary

Annie Southworth
Jul 18, 1969 - Feb 26, 2018
San Francisco
Annie Southworth died peacefully in her sleep on February 26, 2018 in Chico, California after a valiant 2-year fight with breast cancer. She was taken from us much too soon. Annie was born on July 18, 1969 in Milwaukee, WI. She was adopted by Gayle Southworth and Eileen Hodson in August 1969 and lived in Madison, Wis. until the family moved to downtown San Jose in 1972. In 1981 Annie and family moved to Santa Cruz where she attended Branciforte Middle School, Soquel High School and Cabrillo College. Annie loved playing sports, especially beach volleyball. Annie spent a couple of years in Maui before moving to San Francisco where she found her calling.
Annie spent the past 20 years in San Francisco deeply involved in the music and art scene as a producer, promoter and advocate for live music. By the early '00s, she was acting as an agent for local groups. Annie had an incredible eye for talent, according to Noise Pop general manager Dawson Ludwig, who said she "had some of the best ears the festival has seen." Many of the bands she represented saw success. She worked with the Dodos, the Dirty Ghosts, Kelley Stoltz, and The Oh Sees, all of whom received her help at critical career junctions. Annie was well known in San Francisco, and it was nearly impossible to be with her anywhere in the city where she wasn't recognized. Annie was a fantastic cook, and delighted in making delicious meals for friends and family. She was also a big fan of the Giants and the Warriors. She is survived by her mother, Eileen Hodson; father, Gayle Southworth; siblings, Terry, Tanya and Bobby Southworth; step-father, Steve Kennedy; step-sisters, Meghan Kennedy Justice and Brigid Kennedy-Pfister; 4 nieces and 3 nephews; her beloved rescue cat, Steph Purry, and her second family of many SF friends. She will be greatly missed by all.
Annie deeply appreciated the care she received from Dr. Nicole Whitlatch, the Enloe Cancer Center and the nurses at Enloe Home Hospice in Chico. Any donations in Annie's name can be sent to Enloe Foundation, 249 W. 6th Ave., Chico, CA 95926 or online at Enloe Foundation.
