Arthur Richard and Brittany Nicole Carroll

Arthur Richard Carroll Obituary

Arthur Richard Carroll and Brittany Nicole Carroll, also known as Brittany Nicole Houlehan, passed away on March 25, 2007 in Mountrail County, North Dakota. The 2 were en-route to Minot Air Force Base, a destination they were happy to call home for the next three years, when they were involved in a tragic car accident, only 1.5 hours away from their new life. Arthur and Brittany were high school sweethearts, having met at the tender ages of 18 and 15, as science camp counselors. They married in an intimate ceremony on August 11, 2006 in Mobile, Alabama and affectionately referred to each other as cuddle bear and cuddle cub. Their love, friendship, laughter and thirst for life will be dearly missed.

When you’ve found the one
who touches your soul,
who fills your life,
and makes you whole,
then you have found
true love.

They were high school sweethearts,
best friends, husband and wife.

Both filled with passion, purpose,
Integrity, and dreams.

Together forever,
and forever in my heart.

I love and miss you both.

Arthur & Brittany,

I love and miss you both so much! There isn't a day that goes by without thoughts of you! This has been a very hard year for me, and they only comfort I can find is that the two of you are still together! I'm glad that the two of you found at such a young age, in each other what most people spend their whole lives searching for and never truly find! If I have learned anything this last year you have taught me that life is too short to not be happy. You never know what tomorrow or the next second can bring and you need to live your life like there may not be a tomorrow to do it in! The two of you are a BEAUTIFUL couple and anyone who meets you is instantly filled with joy! The love and happiness you share radiates through the two of you like none other! I can only imagine the impact you are making up above as you are beaming around with your wings and shinning in the night's sky. I look for you both everywhere all the time, and even though I can't always see you I do know that you are there and someday we will be together again! I can't help but get mad at times, that you were taken from us so soon and just as your lives together was beginning. I wonder why you and not me, I have done more, gone through more years, and the two of you still had SO much more to give. I know that God has his reasons and knows what he is doing but it's still hard and I can't help but to be mad at times, even though I'm trying not to. I can say that even though I'm not done living yet and there is still more I want to do, I'm no longer afraid to die, I will get to be with the two of you again. I can't wait until the day I get to see your beautiful smiles and hug you both again. I miss your laugh, which is funny since it was driving me crazy a year ago. I miss you both so much and I hurt to deep down, I'm not sure how to let it go yet, but I am trying. What I wouldn't give for 1 more day with you both! I have always admired the two of you and I'm glad you choose to follow your hearts! I love and miss you both!
Until we meet again,
Your Big Sis/Sister in Law,
Sheena

It was your 1st Wedding Anniversary yesterday. We made a special flower arrangement for you two and kept you in our thoughts all day. Rick & I went to the Aquarium in the morning and as we passed Dennis the Menace Park, pictures of all the times we spent as a family playing in the park and the times we rode on the paddle boats flooded my mind and senses. Images of you both as you said your wedding vows to each other haven't left me. I can smell air of the Gulf Coast and our journey on your special day...stopping for lunch as we made our way back to Keesler...an ice cream treat to cool us off.. and how beautiful you both looked as you went to your celebratory dinner at the oldest restaurant in Biloxi. We love and miss you both so much. Our only solace is in knowing you're together. Mom & Rick

Brit and Arthur,
Although I am greatly saddened that you two are gone, I am so happy that you two are able to be together. Your love for eachother was like nothing I've ever seen. I'm glad both of you found eachother in life because not many people find a love so strong at such a young age. I'm glad to have met you both because you both have opened my eyes so much! I miss you and will always love you!

Brit and Arthur,
When the two of you were together you radiated love and happiness. I loved to be around the two of you because your joyfulness was contagious. I am so glad that you are with each other now because although I am saddened to not have the two of you here, I know that if you were without each other you would be broken. I am thankful that you are both with the one you love forever.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Arthur and I were co-workers a few years ago. Upon meeting Arthur, I was very surprised that a person of such great stature could be such a kind and gentle being. He was always very helpful and well-mannered, and he also had a great sense of humor. We would often joke around with each other, always in fun.

I only regret that I never had the chance to tell Arthur in person how proud I was that he grew to be such a great young man. I will always admire him for following his dream to serve in the Air Force and also for marrying his true love.

You will both always be missed but never forgotten by all those who knew you.

Arthur was a sweet and honorable young man that I was fortunate to have known through many different connections. Blessings and compassion for him and Brittany and of course Michelline and his surviving sisters, his Big Brother Charlie whom i understand made such a big contribution to Arthurs life.

Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers here at Minot AFB. As a parent, I can't imagine what you must be going through. My heart breaks for all of you. I'm sorry we didn't get the chance to meet your beautiful children. I am sending you a quote that was in our base paper today to let you know they are both being honored today:

"We're flying the American flag at half-staff March 30 in memory of Airman 1st Class Arthur Carroll and his wife, Brittany, whose lives were cut tragically short in a vehicle accident this week. In our thoughts and prayers for their family and friends, we honor their commitment to the service of our nation."

Our prayers are with you.

I didn't know either Brittany nor Arthur well. Brittany was a high school friend of my sister's. She was a bright, vibrant person with a beautiful happy smile. I was shocked to hear of the accident, but I am sure that both Brittany and Arthur are together and in peace.
