Resident of Santa Cruz
Basil J. Ridino, 91, of Santa Cruz, CA passed away peacefully at the Veterans Hospital in Palo Alto, CA. He was born to the late Ignatio and Carmella Ridino on in Patti, Italy. His wife, Mary Jane (Ciulla) Ridino preceded him in death in 1976, as well as his brothers, Richard and Albert. He is survived by his 3 loving children Linda (Jim) Serra, Carol (Dave) Ellis and Tom (Tess) Ridino along with 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He leaves 2 brothers: Joe and Sam Ridino and one sister, Connie Pratt.Basil was a kind and loving man whose "great" generosity followed in the footsteps of Christ. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him! Burial will be at the Gates of Heaven Cemetery in Los Altos on Thursday, June 7, 2012 following a 12:30 PM Requiem Mass at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in San Jose, CA. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the American Cancer Society on behalf of Basil Ridino.

Basil was one of a kind. A good man who gave to others freely within his means. I always had a lot of respect for him and will miss our poker games....rest in peace Uncle Bay..
