Carl Reimer Obituary

Carl Tom Reimer was a miracle. A miracle that touched so many lives in only his short amount of time on Earth. There wasn't a person that came in contact with Carl's blue eyes, big smile, and warm heart who didn't automatically fall for him. His kindness and warmth were felt by all generations and it was clear to many that Carl's old soul was wise beyond his years.

Carl was positive... positive about life, love, friendship, family, and above all peace. He was a respectful, sensitive, caring, and often times a funny soul who filled all of our lives with such joy.

He was a spitting image of his mother JoAnn Tennent and father Joe Reimer. Carl loved nothing more than waking up early, throwing on his 49'r shoes, heading to the lane and surfing with his friends. He was a water baby from the get go and became devoted to the ocean.

Carl grew up on the west side of Santa Cruz, attending Bay View Elementary, Mission Hill Junior High, and graduating from Santa Cruz High School in 2009.

Recently, Carl fell in love. He was passionate about his girlfriend Heather and they were planning a life. They had big dreams for their future.

In his life after school Carl became increasingly interested in spirituality. He found solace, joy, and comfort in Reggae music and started studying Rastafarianism.

With the recent gang related death of Tyler Tenorio, a member of his extended family, Carl was forced to become aware of the dangers that gangs are bringing to Santa Cruz. Carl has never had any affiliation to any gang and neither did Tyler. With their deaths, let this be a reminder that we must stop this violence in our community. We can't have our innocent babies dying.

Carl left us glowing and on top of the world. He landed a backside three sixty the day his life was taken, a lifelong goal finally accomplished. Carl is survived by his entire family, which are too numerous to list, all of his long time good friends, and everyone in our community that remembers him as a gentle, honest, happy, and kind individual that always brought joy to everyone.

We will be celebrating Carl's life with a Memorial Service on Sunday May 23rd, 2010 at the Coconut Grove starting at 2pm. Monday May 24th join us for a paddle out at the end of Woodrow. We will first gather at the lighthouse at 9am before we begin the paddle out at 11am, we will begin the paddle out from Mitchell's Cove.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Carl Reimer Memorial Fund P.O. Box 1783 Aptos Ca. 95001

Your light still burns in my home and heart Carl. I watched you grow and struggle to become the beautiful young man you had bloomed into most recently. The violene that took that from you-and you from us- will not be forgotten Carl. Rest peacefully now sweet boy and know that justice will be served.Your passing has stirred the hearts and souls of this community. We will never forget you or Tyler.

Dearest Carl,
I went to your memorial service yesterday; it was so sad. I can't believe that you were taken from us, especially such a short time after Tyler, and both in such senseless and terrible ways. You had such a wonderful future planned and I'm sorry you won't be here to fulfill those dreams. I love your mom and dad, and my heart breaks for them. I love you Carl and wish you peace!

Carl,
I knew you from the love light in the eyes of your mother. Every time I saw your mom her eyes were full of love when she spoke of you. I know that your spirit was filled with Love and compassion. Now that spirit is being fulfilled in us. Your spirit is with all of us and may you rest in Love & Peace.

Carl, you and Tyler both have nitched a spot in the hearts of an entire community. You have left a lot of legacies, but what I will remember most is the family values and respectfulness displayed by both you and Tyler. It is ever so apparent your hearts were full of only love. Santa Cruz youth will take note and role model you. I am already seeing it happen. I am sorry what cruelness and violence has done to you, but just know that we promise you we will stand up behind you and do whatever it takes to end the senseless violence in our community. Catch a big one on the other side, Carl. Every little thing will be alright.

Much love,
Clarkie

I didn't know you, Carl. Your life obviously touched many people in wonderful ways. I am so sorry you had to leave this world too soon. I feel so bad for your family who will never get to see you again. I want you to know that I will do my best to honor your life by working to get Santa Cruz back to the days when kids were safe here.

Man.... Carl, I remember you crushing out on me when you were 4 years old... I remember you asking me why I cut my hair because you thought it was so pretty, at only 5. Then, you wanted me to cut your hair nice and short too... You were sooooo adorable. And you were such a sweet kid, and I'm sure you grew to be a sweet young man. Big hug, brother. Surf the biggest waves you can find, wherever you are. I'm sorry I didn't see you sooner...

love,

tacy

Hi Carl,
I still can't believe that you are no longer with us, just like I can't believe Tyler is no longer with us. But I do know that you were a miracle baby for sure, and that you were loved so much by your parents and your family and your friends. I was around you and your parents all the time when you were a baby and growing up into a young man. I hope where you are at up in that big sky that you are at peace, and that you have Tyler by your side hanging out together looking over your family's and your friends together knowing how much we love you and miss you both. Ride that big wave in the sky buddy and always know that you will be with us in our thoughts and in our hearts every minute of everyday.

Love Always,
Geene
