Family and friends will gather in Santa Cruz on Saturday to celebrate the life of Chris Watkins who died at Stanford University Medical Center on May 10th following a brief but fierce battle with cancer. He was 61 years old. Born in Los Angeles, Chris was a long time resident of Ben Lomond, moving there in 1970 where he owned and operated Capt. Chris' Leather with his wife Judy. They also lived for a time in Florida, but Chris' love for motorcycle racing kept bringing him back to the deserts of Southern California where he was a familiar face on the dirt bike racing circuits of the Los Angeles and Riverside areas. During the past 10 years, Chris and his wife have resided in Cathedral City, CA. where he worked as a handy man.
Friends and family will forever remember his willingness to lend a helping hand, whether it was feeding your cat while you were on vacation or building a fence. Chris also enjoyed throwing a good party. His outgoing and rowdy personality and his relentless sense of humor were the perfect talents to host any size gathering. Chris was truly one of a kind and he will be greatly missed, and forever cherished.
Chris leaves his beloved wife of 37 years, Judy Watkins of Cathedral City; his extended family of the Juliano, Capra, and Cohelan families, and numerous friends in the San Lorenzo Valley and the Palm Springs areas.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that any kind acts may be made to a special trust account: "The Christopher Watkins Memorial Fund", which has been established at Bank of America to help offset Chris and Judy's medical expenses.

What a great delight to having met you, partying with you and lovely wife, Judy, and the experience of your true goodness, personality and character. Keep those "Pearly Gate Hinges" oiled so that when it comes time, I will be able to come in and join you for a "cold one"!
Rest in Peace, Chris!

I'll always remember "as kids", you and Judy in the sandbox in Burbank making candles! You will always be Captain Chris to me and you will be missed. Be at peace and have a beer!!

You will be missed, but now you are the Handy man to the Heavens. Don't change the Pearly gate to much!
