Chris passed away in the early morning hours at Yosemite National Park while backpacking.
Chris was a kind, gentle, good man who valued his many friends. He loved his wife of 11 years Doanna, his Labradors, Tenor and Saxie, and his cat, Kiki. He was a man who loved the great outdoors. Throughout his life he enjoyed surfing, fishing, diving, skiing, backpacking, and bicycle touring. He and his wife spent the early months of marriage biking and camping across the US and Canada.
Chris loved to work with his hands and he loved antiques. He and his wife spent many weekends renovating their Santa Cruz Victorian and decorating with finds from architectural salvage and antique stores. When his parents visited the projects bounded forward. He and his dad worked side by side on the beautiful back period porch and a dining room built-in, and his Mom took down the old unused chimney and used the bricks to build a walkway to the house.
Chris was born in Ashtabula, Ohio to Betty and Lynn (Larry) White. The family moved to California in 1963. He received his BSME from UCSB. During his career he designed satellites, military vehicles, and fixtures for submarines. His most recent employer was Northrup Grumman in San Jose.
He is survived by his wife Doanna, his parents Betty and Larry, and his sister Vicki. A Celebration of his Life will be held in his backyard at 3pm in Santa Cruz this Saturday October 12, 2013. For additional details contact his wife or his family.
