David Bohrman Obituary

David Lynn Bohrman
September 26, 1941 ~ February 25, 2021
Resident of Ben Lomond
David Lynn Bohrman went home to be with the Lord on February 25, 2021. He was born in Petaluma, California on September 26, 1941 to Janet (Derby) and David C. Bohrman. Shortly after his birth the family moved to Fresno, California where he grew up and graduated from Fresno High School (1959) and Fresno State University (1964). He was married in 1963 to Caroline (Terry) Anderson. They moved to Sunnyvale, California in the Fall of 1964 where David began teaching science at Sunnyvale Middle School. He continued at the same school for 37 years although the family moved to Ben Lomond in 1967. He was named Sunnyvale Teacher of the Year in 2000 and received the California School Board Association Golden Bell award for offering an innovative elective in Ichthyology: Study of Fish and Fishing. He also led a "Swamp Stompers" club and coached basketball. For many years he was a licensed painting contractor – known as "Winter Teacher Summer Painter". He hired and trained fellow teachers and college students in the art of house painting.
In retirement, he became active in SIR (Sons in Retirement) Branch 36 and served in various offices. David enjoyed playing golf, watching the Giants and Warriors, attending grandchildren's sporting events, and travel, including a mission trip to Chile and several fishing trips to Alaska.
David was a longtime member of High Street Community Church and served on various committees.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Terry, and children: John Bohrman, Janelle Phillips (Michael), Jeff Bohrman (Susan), grandchildren: Bria Hauptman, Darwin Bohrman, Max Phillips and Brady Phillips, sister: Carol Bohrman and brothers: Ken Bohrman and Chris Bohrman.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Michael Wu and the Sutter Health Oncology Department and Hospice of Santa Cruz County for their compassionate care.
One of David's favorite things to do was buy a meal anonymously for someone else in the restaurant where he was dining or behind him in the drive thru line.
No services are planned. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to High Street Community Church (850 High Street/ Santa Cruz, CA 95060) or buy a meal for someone anonymously in his honor the next time you're eating out.
