1953 - 2012
Resident of Palm Desert
Doynetta passed away December 15th 2011 from ALS. She was 58 years old.
She was born September 27th 1953 in Indiana. She moved to San Francisco with her family as a child, and then moved to the San Lorenzo Valley where she attended San Lorenzo Valley High.
She spent her earlier years working for the Santa Cruz Sentinel, selling Real Estate in the San Lorenzo Valley, and bookkeeping for her husband Steve, while raising her two kids.
Stephen Spencer Bruce, her husband of 20 years + passed away Sept 6, 1995. She was survived by her life partner Dan Austin of Petrolia, her mother, Lydia Striker of Tennessee, sister, Dava Striker of Tennessee, sister, Deborah Striker Olsen of Washington State, Son, Scott Allen Bruce of Boulder Creek, Daughter, Melissa Amy Bruce of Ben Lomond, and grandchildren Hannah Stevie Raymond and Spencer Allen Bruce.
Doynetta lived in Petrolia California and Palm Desert. While in Petrolia, she loved to photograph sunsets of the Mattole Valley from the porch of her "palace".She also loved to rock hunt, mussel and abalone hunt, fishing and reading in the sunshine.
While in Palm Desert, Doynetta loved to spend time golfing with Dan, exploring Joshua Tree, The Living Desert and surrounding areas. She loved to see new places and travel.
A celebration of life service will be held January 29th Sunday at the Felton Cemetary at 12:00 noon.
