To Ellen's family,
We came to know Ellen because we were looking for a house and pet sitter.
From the moment we met her, we adored her. She was lighthearted, sincere, loved animals and was completely trustworthy, responsible and reliable. She was so enthusiastic to establish DogMa, her pet sitters business, as a source of income after she retired from UCSC.
After that first visit, we communicated occasionally on the phone, but mostly via emails before during and after her stays at our house, and now and then throughout the year just to stay in touch. When she stayed, she loved to include anecdotes about our cat Lulu; you could tell how much she enjoyed her. We knew how much Lulu loved Ellen by her calm, confident behavior when we came home.
We are so so sorry to have lost Ellen. Our guest room will always be called Ellen's Room. In my heart I always hoped that in the years to come to have the opportunity to get to know her better and to have her as my friend.
We are so deeply sorry to all the family that you have lost her. She was absolutely remarkable.
