Eric Kerkhof

1988 - 2022

Born to Donna Raposa and Dennis Kerkhof. Growing up, he developed a love for nature, music, food, animals, and sports, which was reflected in his adventurous spirit and fearless approach to life. Whether it was snowboarding, bodysurfing, or skateboarding, Eric always sought to push his limits and live life to the fullest.A proud Aptos High School alumnus, Eric was a gifted athlete and was known for his selflessness and courage on the football and rugby fields. Despite suffering several injuries, he never lost his passion for the game and the love for his teammates.Eric's thirst for adventure and knowledge led him to the University of Utah and earned a bachelor's degree in Economics. During his time in Utah, Eric took full advantage of the opportunities for adventure and fun that the state had to offer. From snowboarding powder to cliff jumping, hiking, floating rivers, and even keg-runs to Wyoming, Eric always found ways to bring joy and excitement to those around him.In 2018, Eric returned to Capitola to be closer to his mother, Donna. He was joined by his fiancé, Alyssa Midgley. With his energetic laughter, unique clothing style, preference for the strongest IPAs, and love for those around him, Eric will always be remembered as a bright light in the lives of those who knew him.Though Eric has left us too soon, his family finds comfort in knowing he is now reunited with his mother and his beloved dogs, relaxing on the beach, soaking up the sun, and surrounded by love.We invite you to celebrate Eric's life and legacy at 2 pm on Saturday, February 18th, at Cathedral Grove in DeLaveaga Park. Let us come together to honor the memory of a truly amazing young man who left an indelible mark on our hearts and lives.
