Floyd Leon Leonard entered into rest after a lengthy illness at his home with his loving wife by his side on Tuesday, August 8, 2006. He was 71 years of age.
Floyd is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marie Joyce of Soquel, son Dan Leonard and his wife Claudia of Oroville, daughter Dawn Andersen and her husband Rick of Santa Cruz, son James Leonard and his wife Debbie of Medford, Oregon, grandchildren; Dan, Jacqueline, Sean, Jimmy, Christopher, Joshua, Jessica, adopted siblings Ellis and Faith Severietti.
Floyd was a native of San Francisco, and as a teen he grew up in San Carlos. He met the love of his life, Marie Joyce, in 1947. They were married July 28, 1953. Their family lived through out the Bay Area, South Bay and moved to Soquel in 1975. Floyd worked in retail groceries. He began at the age of 16 and worked his way up from clerk to manager. He worked for Purity, Mayfair and Fairway Mart. He was a proud member of the Retail Clerks Union. He enjoyed spending time with his family, going on cruises and taking trips to Reno with his wife. He loved music, he was a passionate audiophile. He was an avid reader and had a love for literature and history. He often took pleasure in educating people. He had an exceptional talent for photography, especially with scenery. An honorable man, honest and caring, he will be dearly missed.
At his request, there are no services. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Caring Project, 940 Disc Dr., Scotts Valley, Dominican Hospital, 1555 Soquel Dr., Santa Cruz or Gift Planning & Endowment Department, KQED, Inc., 2601 Mariposa St., San Francisco, CA 94110.
